Your note about your Father brought to mind my own, who taught me lessons that I didn't even know I was learning at the time. He had a habit of picking up hitchikers (and bringing them home if the weather was bad) which made us all crazy back in the day. I most especially remember spending a holiday meal with a family who my Dad had helped provide Christmas for the year before when they were unemployed. It took me a couple of decades to realize what all that meant.
