Skate Park Help

I'm looking for somebody with some expertise: We are building a 'Skate Friendly' area in our new student zone (not a true skate park....) and our insurance company is requiring me to create a bunch of stuff that I really don't understand anything about.

If anybody has a skate park at their church, or knows somebody who does, and would be willing to give me some insight I would greatly appreciate it!

Are you talking about safety equipment/setup stuff or paperwork stuff? The YMCA I volunteer at in my town has a skate park that I end up supervising from time to time, so I have a little bit of familiarity with gear, etc. ...

Actually, a retreat site we went to has a skate park in it. The site is Pinecrest Christian Conference Center.

Kurt, I'd be interested to hear what you mean by 'skate friendly' as opposed to a skate park, what are some of your guys design ideas?

Matthew,
I'm talking about paperwork. We need a formal 'emergency plan', staff training manual etc.

Jon,
by 'skate friendly' we plan to have rounded planters, grindable benches etc. maybe one half-pipe.

Central Bible Church in Portland, Oregon had a Skate Church for a number of years (actual dedicated facility to skate ministry and Pastor or Skate Ministries). They had to deal with the whole insurance issue pretty thoroughly.

Here is the link to Skate Church formerly affiliated with Central Bible. Great resource and have experience helping others build skate ministries. More than you want, but likely to have the info. you are looking for.

Sounds like these other guys know more than me, then! I haven't dealt with any of the paperwork side of things. Sorry!

Calvary Chapel in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Serious Skate Park and team of kids who professionaly tour for the church each summer. If there is a church that knows what they are doing it's this one on skateboarding.
