My Dad

Yesterday was a tough day. We got a call at about 7:30 a.m. telling us that my dad had passed away. As I write this I'm grieving but filled with joy knowing he is in the presence of our heavenly father and enjoying perfect health...something he hasn't known for many years.

Thanks a ton for all the comments and emails of support and encouragement the past couple of weeks. It has meant a lot. If the technological world of texts, instant messaging, facebook, blogs etc. have hurt "true community", I haven't sensed it during this time. I have had very few face to face conversations about my dad in recent days, but have never experienced more community and closeness with the body of Christ.

Can you just imagine the welcome home reception...the red carpet was rolled out! The table was set, he is now feasting at the table!

Kurt, sorry for your lose. However, it is cool to hear when God heals someone by taking them home! I guess bitter sweet would sum it up. I am praying for you and your family.

Kurt,
Sending our prayers and sympathy! Without meeting your father I am sure he was very proud of you and the many lives (students, adults and pastors) you influence and encourage through your gifts and time.
Thanks Kurt.
Keeping you and your family in our prayers.

Kurt,

Last night my Dad flew in from Nor. Cal so we could spend the early part of this week doing a project with just my dad and I. About mid day he told me his doctor is concerned about an irregular rhythm in his heart. I immediately thought of your recent posts and such about your time with your dad and I found myself both thankful for the opportunity and wondering how many more projects I'll get to do with my dad.

then tonight I read this post.

I'm sure this will make the thanksgiving and christmas season very different and difficult. I'll be praying for you and your family in this time.

We're praying for you guys, and looking forward to the day when we can all celebrate together in heaven without the hindrances of our human bodies.
