Quite a weekend! We kicked off our three week sex series. We sent letters home to parents so they would have a heads up, and were shocked that even though church-wide attendance was down due to Mother's Day, our attendance was quite a bit larger than normal. I think that's a good reminder of two things: Students want to hear about sex, and parents want us to talk about it! We had quite a few parents sitting in on the program in the back of the room because they said they wanted to hear the lesson so they could have good follow up discussions with their kids. Our program was a little bit weaker than normal, and we ran short on time because the adult service went about 20 minutes short, but it was still a fantastic weekend.

We're wrapping up our sex series called "The Hook Up." It has had very positive feedback and I've had no parental issues!

That is such a relief to hear! I have to do some sort of a sex series soon and I am freakin nervous! Its nice to hear that parents are receptive to it and so are the students! Do you guys have issues with younger jr high students in our service! I am worried about my 11 year olds a little bit... maybe I am just fooling myself though!

I met an 8th grade Jewish kid who was outside the tent during worship. (He was offended by us singing about Jesus.) His parents don't attend church but his mom made him go with his girlfriend as one of the conditions of him being able to have a girlfriend in the first place.

Kinda interesting.

Kristi...I'm always concerned about the younger kids during this series, but hopefully a few things help us:

1) we aren't a middle school program so we don't have 6th graders.

2) we purposely teach the series at this time of the year so our group is the 'oldest' it can be.

3) we send the letter home to parents and encourage them to keep their kids with them in 'big church' during the series if they feel they aren't ready.
